General Position Summary:

The Finance Assistant will be responsible for handling the financial activities under the direct supervision of the finance coordinator of RI. He/she must record transactions in NS, collecting, arranging, and archiving the documents on a timely basis.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Finance Assistant is responsible to handle the financial activities under the direct supervisor of the provincial finance Coordinator
  • Ensuring the financial operations comply with RI standard Financial Policy and Procedures as well as the donor rules and regulations.
  • Handling petty cash payments and safekeeping of physical cash in the safe box.
  • Performing cash counts on a timely basis.
  • Booking transactions into NetSuite on a timely basis.
  • Proceeding the payments through cash box and bank account by issuing the cheque or transfer letters.
  • Withdrawing cash from bank for petty cash payments.
  • Reconciling bank and cash accounts monthly.
  • Ensuring all transactions are supported by complete supporting documents.
  • Scanning and uploading the vouchers into NS and as well as to the box folder on a timely basis.
  • Ensuring transactions are booked to the relevant GL, project & project task lines.
  • Ensuring the proper archiving and safekeeping of financial documents.
  • Helping the Provincial Finance Officer & F. Coordinator in the preparation of the financial report.
  • Verifying the expenditure documents and managing their payments on a timely basis.
  • Other finance-related tasks assigned by the Finance Coordinator.
Job Requirements:
  • A university degree preferably in Finance or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in a position with similar duties, at least 3 years.
  • Sufficient experience in a position with similar duties with an international organization, at least 2 years.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English and Pashto and/or Dari, and should be able to type both in English and Dari.
  • Essential management and coordination skills.
  • Excellent reporting and archiving skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including word & excel processing, internet/e-mail.
  • Able to work under pressure and short deadlines.
  • Able to work long hours when and if required.
  • Able to work with limited supervision.
  • To be interested in working with an INGO and serve Afghan people.
