Summary:
The Project Engineer will provide technical leadership and supervision for all engineering components of the project. The position will ensure the quality of construction and technical works, coordinate with contractors and stakeholders, monitor progress, review technical documents, and provide timely technical advice to project management
Key Responsibilities:
· Review project designs, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and technical documents.
· Check dimensions, quantities, materials, workmanship, and construction methods.
· Monitor construction progress against the approved schedule.
· Identify defects, technical problems, delays, and deviations and recommend corrective actions.
· Ensure proper testing and inspection of construction materials and completed works.
· Verify completed works before certification or acceptance.
· Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and technical teams.
· Review contractor work plans, methodologies, and schedules.
· Monitor contractor compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
· Review contractor invoices and measurement sheets against actual completed works.
· Verify quantities and quality before recommending payment.
· Maintain records of contractor performance and site instructions.
· Support resolution of technical and contractual issues.
· Establish and maintain appropriate quality-control procedures for engineering activities.
· Ensure construction materials meet approved specifications.
· Conduct or supervise inspections and required technical tests.
· Maintain inspection records and quality-control documentation.
· Identify non-conforming works and ensure corrective action is taken.
· Ensure completed infrastructure meets required quality and functionality standards.
· Monitor physical progress of engineering activities.
· Prepare regular technical and site progress reports.
· Document site observations, challenges, decisions, and corrective actions.
· Maintain updated project drawings, measurements, inspection reports, and technical records.
· Provide technical inputs to monthly, quarterly, and final project reports.
· Report significant delays, risks, defects, or safety concerns promptly to the Project Manager.
· Ensure construction activities follow appropriate health and safety procedures.
· Monitor contractors' compliance with site safety requirements.
· Identify and report safety hazards.
· Promote safe working practices among contractors and project staff.
· Ensure appropriate environmental protection measures are implemented.
· Support compliance with organizational safeguarding and environmental policies.
· Coordinate with project management, government authorities, communities, contractors, and other stakeholders on technical matters.
· Participate in technical meetings and site meetings.
· Explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders when required.
· Coordinate with relevant authorities for inspections, approvals, and technical requirements.
· Address community concerns related to engineering and construction activities.
