Job Descriptions:

Overall Responsibility

The role involves planning, facilitating, and delivering hygiene promotion activities with communities, particularly focusing on vulnerable groups. The position will support behavioral change in hygiene and sanitation practices to reduce waterborne diseases and improve overall community well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and implement work plans for hygiene promotion activities.

· Organize and facilitate community-based, training sessions, and awareness campaigns on hygiene and sanitation.

· Deliver educational sessions on handwashing, safe water use, sanitation, and menstrual hygiene management.

· Conduct household visits to assess hygiene practices and provide training and advice.

· Distribute hygiene kits to right-holders and provide guidance on their proper usage.

· Assist in the design and dissemination of educational materials such as brochures, posters, and audiovisual content.

· Coordinate with community leaders, and other stakeholders to strengthen community engagement.

· Collect and analyze data related to hygiene behaviors, community needs, and feedback to inform programming.

· Maintain documentation and prepare timely reports on activities, achievements, and challenges.

· Collaborate closely with procurement and logistics departments for timely supply and distribution of hygiene materials.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Social Sciences, or a related field. Relevant training or certification in WASH is an asset.

Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in hygiene promotion preferably in the context of Daikundi.
Languages: Fluency in Dari is required; proficiency in English and Pashto is an asset.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of hygiene promotion principles, behavior change approaches, and WASH best practices.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to engage diverse groups and conduct effective training sessions.
Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to interact respectfully and effectively with communities from various cultural and religious backgrounds.
Adaptability: Capacity to work in remote or resource-constrained environments and adapt to evolving program needs.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet, and email.
