Afghanistan Relief and Sustainable Development Organization (ARSDO) is a national, non-profit development organization established in 2017 and registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan (Registration No. 4190). Job Descriptions:

1. Purpose of the Position

The Nutrition Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring nutrition-related activities within the organization. The role ensures delivery of quality nutrition services, compliance with organizational and donor standards, and contributes to improved health and nutrition outcomes for target communities.

2. Key Responsibilities

Program Implementation

·       Support planning and implementation of nutrition interventions (e.g., growth monitoring, micronutrient supplementation, Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counseling).

·       Conduct field visits to monitor nutrition activities and provide technical support.

·       Ensure timely delivery of nutrition supplies and services.

·       Coordinate with health facilities, community health workers, and program teams.

Capacity Building

·       Train health staff and community workers on nutrition protocols and guidelines.

·       Provide refresher trainings on IYCF, CMAM, and other nutrition standards.

·       Mentor field staff to strengthen service delivery.

Monitoring & Reporting

·       Collect, compile, and analyze nutrition data from health facilities and communities.

·       Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual nutrition reports.

·       Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices.

·       Ensure timely submission of donor and organizational reports.

Coordination & Representation

·       Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders on nutrition activities.

·       Represent the organization in nutrition-related meetings and forums.

·       Support integration of nutrition into broader health and development programs.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

·       Ensure adherence to national and international nutrition guidelines.

·       Monitor quality of nutrition services delivered.

·       Uphold safeguarding, protection, and ethical standards in all activities.

3. Reporting Line

·       Reports directly to Project Coordinator

·       Coordinates technically with relevant health/nutrition advisors

4. Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Medicine, or related field (Master’s degree desirable).

·       Minimum 3–5 years of experience in nutrition programming with NGOs/INGOs.

·       Strong background in CMAM, IYCF, and nutrition assessments.

·       Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

·       Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.

  • Fluency in Pashto/Dari; working knowledge of English is preferred.
