Job Summary

The Medical Receptionist (MR) performs a wide range of tasks in the reception of the laboratory. Medical receptionists are expected to be compassionate and discreet with superb time management and record-keeping skills.

To ensure success, medical receptionists should be confident and professional administrators with fantastic communication and interpersonal skills that will contribute to the efficient day-to-day administration of the healthcare facility. Top candidates will work comfortably under pressure while multitasking in a fast-paced environment and can effectively react to patients’ laboratory investigations.

Shift:

3:00 pm - 11:00 pm 

Medical Receptionist Responsibilities

·       Greet and attend to patients in person and over the phone and WhatsApp.

·       Professionally assist doctors, staff, visitors, patients, and other clients.

·       Answer all phone calls professionally and courteously.

·       Perform all duties within Human Medical Laboratory regulations.

·       Maintain confidentiality of all doctor, staff, and patient information.

·       Schedule appointments and reports for patients.

·       Liaise between medical departments with discretion and professionalism.

·       Adhere to policy and procedures during all activities.

·       Assist with departments as per agreed protocols.

·       Ensure that stock levels of the reception are adequate and orders are made timeously.

·       Communicate medical results to patients under clinical supervision.

·       Complete accurate documentation of patient visits.

·       Notifying providers of patient samples.

·       Verify financial records and collect patient charges while filing and expediting third-party claims.

·     Scan pertinent patient information into EMR, including patient authorizations and recent labs delivered by patients.

·       Issue specimen collection containers to patients as needed.

·       Answer patient questions and provide assistance and directions when necessary.

·       Utilize our laboratory software to register patients for invoicing.

·       Respond to emails that arrive using the laboratory-assigned email address.

·  Perform procedures for the collection of blood samples from patients (peds, adults, etc.) when a phlebotomist is not available.

Job Requirements:

Minimum 

  • Degree in medical laboratory technology (Bachelor's degree)
  • Friendly and compassionate disposition
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Dedication to maintaining the confidentiality of all patients and laboratory records

Preferred

  • Bachelor's from abroad
  • Diploma in phlebotomy

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in medical reception
  • Preferred 3 or more years of experience

License

  • Be able to obtain a license from the Ministry of Public Health

Computer Skills

  • Basic computer programs
  • Typing speed shall be greater than 40 words/minutes
