Currently Concern has been working in Takhar and Badakhshan provinces undertaking both emergency response and long-term developmental work in the areas of livelihood security, primary education and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. 

Job Descriptions:

Main duty and Responsibilities:

Nutrition & Community Activities

        Conduct household visits, nutrition counselling and community awareness sessions.

        Promote IYCF, maternal nutrition, dietary diversity and locally available nutritious foods.

        Support behavior changes communication activities.

Nutrition Screening & Referral

        Conduct MUAC screening for PBWs and children under five.

        Identify, refer and follow up malnutrition cases.

        Maintain referral records.

Beneficiary Targeting

        Support household mapping and vulnerability assessments.

        Assist with beneficiary registration and verification.

        Ensure transparent and accountable targeting.

Reporting & Coordination

        Maintain activity records and submit reports.

        Coordinate with FHH staff, CHWs, FHAGs, Community Health Shuras and the MEAL team.

        Participate in supervision, monitoring and review meetings.

Safeguarding & Accountability

        Promote the Feedback and Complaints Response Mechanism (FCRM).

        Comply with Concern's Code of Conduct, PSEA, safeguarding and equality policies.

        Report safeguarding and protection concerns through appropriate channels.

        Carry out any other duties assigned by the line manager or supervisor that are consistent with the objectives and requirements of the project.

Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) and Emergency:

  • The concern is committed to CHS to ensure downward accountability. CHS standards guide Concern activities in all stages both emergency and development projects /programs. In Afghanistan, we also bounded our activities by Accountability framework and therefore any Afghanistan employees is responsible to comply with CHS principles and benchmarks as instructed by its policies and therefore make sure that all accept and implement CHS standards in all our activities.
  • To give full support in relation to emergencies/ humanitarian operations when occurring in any area that Concern Afghanistan will respond. This can include but is not limited to participation in the Concern Afghanistan Rapid Deployment Unit (CARDU) and deployment on emergency response teams.

 

Job Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience:

  ü   Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery or a related field.

  ü   Training in IYCF, IMAM/CMAM or MIYCN are highly desirable.

  ü   At least two years' experience in community nutrition or humanitarian programmes.

  ü   Experience in IYCF, MUAC screening, community mobilization and nutrition counselling.

  ü   Experience with cash assistance or Cash Plus programmes is an advantage.

  ü   Local candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

  ü   Good communication and counselling skills.

  ü   Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with caregivers and community members.

  ü   Good spoken and written Dari skills.

  ü   Strong counselling, communication and facilitation skills.

  ü   Good knowledge of IYCF, IMAM and community nutrition.

  ü   Ability to work independently in remote communities.

  ü   Good reporting and record-keeping skills.

  ü   Fluency in Dari, and other local languages is an advantage.
