About MAGNA:

I. Background on MAGNA:                           

MAGNA is a medical humanitarian organization that has been actively working worldwide and providing humanitarian aid for more than 20 years. Currently, MAGNA implements humanitarian and health interventions in around 15 countries, with some of its largest operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, South Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. MAGNA delivers humanitarian assistance through direct engagement with health facilities, local health authorities, and frontline healthcare workers to ensure timely and lifesaving medical care for vulnerable populations affected by emergencies and crises.

MAGNA assists children, women, and vulnerable families affected by natural disasters, armed conflicts, displacement, disease outbreaks, and humanitarian emergencies. In the field, MAGNA deploys qualified doctors, nurses, nutrition staff, psychosocial counsellors, and technical specialists to support integrated humanitarian response and strengthen access to essential health and nutrition services.

MAGNA’s interventions primarily focus on Health, Nutrition, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), aiming to save lives, reduce suffering, and improve access to quality healthcare services for crisis-affected communities. Armed conflicts, political instability, displacement, poverty, and weak health systems continue to place millions of people at risk, resulting in increased morbidity, malnutrition, disease outbreaks, and psychological distress. MAGNA prioritizes emergency medical response, outbreak preparedness and response, nutrition services, maternal and child healthcare, MHPSS, and support for underserved and hard-to-reach population               

MAGNA is currently looking for qualified staff to fill the (IT assistant part-time) position in (MAGNA Kabul Office).               

II. Background of program:

In Afghanistan, MAGNA has established a strong operational presence, particularly in the northeastern and southeastern regions. Since January 2026, MAGNA has been implementing the BPHS/HER AF2 project in Kunduz province, supporting 75 health facilities and more than 500 health posts serving over 1.5 million people. The project focuses on integrated primary healthcare services including maternal and newborn health, child health and immunization, nutrition, communicable disease management, MHPSS, referral services, and emergency preparedness and response activities.

MAGNA also has previous emergency response experience in southeastern and eastern Afghanistan. In 2025, MAGNA implemented emergency health and nutrition interventions in Khost province targeting returnees, displaced populations, and vulnerable host communities through integrated mobile and facility-based services. In addition, MAGNA supported emergency response activities following the Kunar earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, providing emergency medical assistance, nutrition support, essential medicines, and psychosocial support services to affected communities in hard-to-reach areas.

Job Descriptions:

Main Purpose

The IT Assistant is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support and maintaining MAGNA’s information technology systems and equipment to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. The role supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security of IT hardware, software, networks, and communication systems, while assisting staff with technical issues and maintaining accurate IT asset records in coordination with the Logistics and Supply Department.  

I. Responsibilities:

The Information Technology Assistant part-time responsibilities include:           

 

-          Provide part-time IT support to all departments by responding to the needs and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.

-          Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT equipment.

-          Install, update, and maintain operating systems, software applications, antivirus software, and security patches.

-          Configure and manage user accounts, official email accounts, passwords, and user access permissions in accordance with organizational policies and HQ support.

-          Provide technical support for Microsoft Office applications, file management, and other approved software.

-          Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot local area networks (LAN), wireless networks, routers, switches, and internet connectivity.

-          Monitor the functionality and performance of IT systems and recommend improvements to ensure reliable operations.

-          Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment and assets, including asset tagging, tracking, maintenance records, and disposal documentation, in coordination with the Logistics and Supply Department.

-          Ensure regular backup of organizational data and support the implementation of IT security measures to protect organizational information and equipment.

-          Provide technical support during meetings, training, workshops, presentations, and virtual events, including the setup and operation of audiovisual and communication equipment.

-          Support staff in the use of communication and collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other approved applications.

-          Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for equipment maintenance, repairs, warranty claims, and technical services when required.

-          Provide basic IT orientation and guidance to new staff on the use of organizational hardware, software, email systems, and IT policies.

-          Document technical issues, maintenance activities, and support requests, and maintain accurate IT service records.

-          Support the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of office communication systems and internet services at field locations when required.

-          Ensure compliance with MAGNA's IT policies, procedures, and data protection requirements.

-          Perform any other IT-related duties assigned by the supervisor or management in support of organizational operations.

 

Job Requirements:

Candidates must have the following qualifications

·          Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field.

·          Demonstrate experience in his/her technical area (minimum 2 years’ experience)

·          Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; knowledge of English is preferred.
