Job Descriptions:

The Translation Manager will lead MHCO’s institutional translation unit, ensuring high‑quality, technically accurate, culturally appropriate, and timely translation of documents across English, Dari, and Pashto. The role oversees workflow management, quality assurance, terminology consistency, and coordination of multiple translation assignments.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the translation department, including translators, editors, proofreaders, and QA staff.
  • Oversee translation of written, digital, and audiovisual materials across English, Dari, and Pashto.
  • Ensure all translated content preserves meaning, tone, technical terminology, and intent of the source material.
  • Maintain original formatting, structure, tables, captions, graphics, and layout in translated documents.
  • Establish and enforce internal quality control procedures, including accuracy checks, terminology consistency, grammar, and formatting.
  • Develop and maintain organizational glossaries and terminology lists.
  • Assign tasks, manage workloads, and ensure timely delivery of all translation assignments.
  • Ensure secure handling, confidentiality, and protection of all documents and data.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to understand translation needs and ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and capacity building for translation staff.
Job Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Linguistics, Translation Studies, Literature, Communications, or related field.
  • Valid TOEFL/IELTS certification.
  • Strong command of English, Dari, and Pashto.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments under strict deadlines.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 12 years senior-level experience in translation management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading translation teams and managing complex translation workflows.
  • Experience with technical, legal, administrative, humanitarian, and communication materials.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Proficiency in translation software, MS Office, and secure file handling systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
