Job summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the technical delivery of the power plant, the 1250 kVA transformer installation and all associated MV/LV distribution and building electrification works, from submittal stage through installation, testing, energisation and handover.
Project scope relevant to this position
– Provision, installation, testing and energisation of a 1250 kVA transformer.
– MV and LV cabling from the power plant to each building, including terminations, jointing and earthing.
– Internal electrification of the service / technical room and generator rooms as per the drawings.
– Reconnection and reactivation of the two existing standby generators to the system.
Duties and responsibilities
– Prepare and review all electrical submittals, shop drawings, single-line diagrams, cable schedules and load calculations before procurement.
– Act as the technical interface with DABS for approval, inspection and energisation of the transformer installation.
– Supervise MV and LV cable laying, terminations, jointing, earthing and lightning protection to the specification and to IEC standards.
– Supervise the relocation, reconnection and reactivation of the existing generators and confirm correct operation on the system.
– Plan and witness all electrical testing and commissioning: insulation resistance, continuity, earth resistance, phase rotation, protection settings and load testing, and issue the test records.
– Coordinate with the Site Engineer so that trenches, ducts, sleeves and plinths are ready ahead of the electrical programme.
– Deliver the three (3) day operation and maintenance training on the electrical facility to the client’s technicians.
– Prepare the electrical as-built drawings and the operation and maintenance material for handover.
Reporting line
Reports to the Project Manager on site, with a functional line to the company head office.
