Job Descriptions:

The Sub-Office Guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the Sub-Office premises, staff, visitors, and organizational assets. The position ensures controlled access to the office, monitors security conditions, patrols the premises, and reports any security incidents or irregularities. The Guard also supports the organization by maintaining a safe working environment and complying with Shelter For Life International's security policies and procedures.

SFL maintains a zero-tolerance policy on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) and is committed to upholding the highest standards of accountability and safeguarding.

Job Requirements:
  1. Ensure the safety and security of the Sub-Office premises, staff, visitors, and organizational assets at all times.
  2. Control access to the office by verifying the identity of visitors and maintaining the visitor register.
  3. Monitor the entry and exit of staff, visitors, vehicles, and organizational property in accordance with organizational procedures.
  4. Conduct routine patrols of the office premises to identify and report any security risks, suspicious activities, or safety hazards.
  5. Safeguard office equipment, vehicles, furniture, and other organizational assets against theft, damage, or unauthorized use.
  6. Open and secure the office premises at the beginning and end of each working day, ensuring that all doors, windows, and gates are properly locked.
  7. Immediately report security incidents, emergencies, accidents, or any unusual occurrences to the supervisor and follow established reporting procedures.
  8. Assist in maintaining order and ensuring compliance with office security procedures by staff and visitors.
  9. Support emergency response procedures, including evacuation during emergencies such as fire, natural disasters, or security incidents.
  10. Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of the guard post and surrounding entrance area.
  11. Cooperate with local authorities and emergency services when required and authorized by management.
  12. Maintain confidentiality regarding organizational activities and information encountered during the course of duty.
  13. Perform any other security-related duties assigned by the Supervisor, Finance Assistant, or Country Office.

Qualification/Requirements:

·         High School Diploma

·         3 years of work experience with INGOs

  • Ability to read and write Dari and/or Pashto; basic knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to work long shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during emergencies.
  • No criminal record or history of misconduct.
  • Familiarity with office security procedures, visitor management, and incident reporting is desirable.
  • Willingness to comply with Shelter For Life International's policies, code of conduct, and security procedures.
