About Sky Aria Mining Company:

Sky Aria Mining Company is engaged in the exploration, extraction, processing, and marketing of fluorite (CaF₂) ore in Uruzgan Province. We are looking for a qualified and experienced Mining Engineer to plan, design, supervise, and optimize mining operations in a safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible manner.

The Mining Engineer will be responsible for the technical planning, execution, and supervision of mining operations, ensuring production targets, safety standards, and cost controls are achieved in compliance with national mining regulations and company policies.

Job Descriptions:

1. Job Purpose

The Heavy Equipment & Fleet Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, availability, and efficient operation of all company machinery, vehicles, and mobile equipment. The position oversees preventive and corrective maintenance programs, manages workshop activities, supervises mechanics, operators, and drivers, controls spare parts, and minimizes equipment downtime to maximize operational productivity.

 

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Fleet & Equipment Management

Manage and maintain all company equipment including but not limited to:

  • Excavators
  • Wheel Loaders
  • Bulldozers
  • Dump Trucks
  • Water Tankers
  • Forklifts
  • Crushing Plants
  • Screening Plants
  • Generators
  • Air Compressors
  • Drilling Equipment
  • Mobile Crushers
  • Company Pickup Vehicles
  • Passenger Vehicles
  • Trailers
  • Heavy Trucks
  • Workshop Equipment

Ensure all machinery remains in safe operating condition.

Maintain equipment availability in accordance with operational requirements.

Monitor equipment performance and utilization.

Develop maintenance schedules for every machine.

 

B. Preventive Maintenance

Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.

Ensure maintenance is completed according to:

  • Operating Hours
  • Mileage
  • Manufacturer Recommendations
  • Company SOPs

Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance schedules.

Ensure lubrication, filter changes and inspections are completed on time.

Maintain complete maintenance records for every machine.

 

C. Corrective Maintenance

Diagnose equipment faults.

Plan and supervise repairs.

Coordinate emergency breakdown repairs.

Reduce equipment downtime.

Ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications.

Test equipment before releasing it for operation.

 

D. Workshop Management

Manage the mechanical workshop.

Ensure proper housekeeping.

Maintain workshop safety standards.

Control tools and workshop equipment.

Ensure availability of repair tools.

Implement good workshop practices.

 

E. Spare Parts Management

Prepare spare parts requirements.

Maintain minimum stock levels.

Monitor critical spare parts.

Coordinate procurement with Procurement Department.

Verify quality of purchased spare parts.

Maintain spare parts inventory records.

Prevent unnecessary purchases.

 

F. Inspection & Equipment Monitoring

Conduct regular inspections of:

  • Heavy machinery
  • Trucks
  • Company vehicles
  • Crushing plants
  • Forklifts
  • Mobile equipment

Identify defects before failures occur.

Prepare inspection reports.

Recommend repairs or replacement.

Maintain inspection checklists.

 

 

G. Supervision of Operators & Drivers

Directly supervise:

  • Equipment Operators
  • Truck Drivers
  • Mechanics
  • Welders
  • Workshop Assistants

Ensure operators perform daily pre-start inspections.

Monitor operator performance.

Train operators on proper machine operation.

Investigate operator-caused damage.

Promote fuel-efficient operation.

Recommend disciplinary action for equipment misuse.

 

H. Equipment Safety

Ensure machinery complies with company safety standards.

Verify:

  • Brakes
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Tires
  • Tracks
  • Steering
  • Warning systems
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Lights
  • Seat belts

Ensure unsafe equipment is removed from service.

 

I. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain records including:

  • Equipment Register
  • Maintenance Logs
  • Service History
  • Repair Records
  • Fuel Consumption
  • Lubrication Records
  • Breakdown Reports
  • Operator Checklists
  • Spare Parts Consumption
  • Workshop Inventory

Prepare:

  • Daily Reports
  • Weekly Reports
  • Monthly Fleet Status Reports
  • Equipment Availability Reports
  • Downtime Reports
  • Maintenance Cost Reports

 

J. Budget & Cost Control

Prepare annual maintenance budgets.

Monitor repair costs.

Control workshop expenses.

Reduce unnecessary repairs.

Optimize maintenance expenditures.

Recommend replacement of uneconomical equipment.

 

K. Procurement Support

Assist Procurement Department in:

  • Equipment evaluation
  • Spare parts specifications
  • Vendor selection
  • Technical inspection
  • Acceptance testing

 

L. Compliance

Ensure compliance with:

  • Company SOPs
  • Manufacturer manuals
  • Safety procedures
  • Environmental requirements
  • Equipment warranty requirements

 

3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The Heavy Equipment & Fleet Maintenance Manager shall be evaluated based on:

The position has authority to:

  • Stop unsafe equipment from operating.
  • Schedule maintenance activities.
  • Assign work to mechanics and technicians.
  • Recommend equipment replacement.
  • Approve routine maintenance.
  • Verify repair completion before equipment returns to service.
  • Recommend procurement of spare parts.
  • Recommend disciplinary action for equipment misuse or negligence.
Job Requirements:
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Heavy Equipment Technology, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in heavy equipment maintenance is an advantage
