The Liaison Officer serves as the primary point of contact between the company and the Afghanistan Customs Department and other relevant government authorities. The role is responsible for facilitating customs clearance processes, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, coordinating import and export documentation, maintaining effective relationships with government stakeholders, and drafting official letters and correspondence to customs authorities, ministries, and other entities as required.
Customs Clearance Management
•Coordinate and manage all import and export customs clearance activities.
• Liaise directly with Afghanistan Customs Department officials to facilitate customs procedures.
• Ensure the timely clearance of shipments through Customs department
• Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve customs-related issues and delays.
• Follow up on customs declarations, inspections, duties, taxes, and clearance approvals
Documentation and Compliance
• Prepare, review, and submit customs clearance documentation accurately and on time.
• Verify commercial invoices, packing lists, CMR and customs declarations, and related documents.
• Ensure compliance with Afghanistan customs regulations, import/export laws, and government requirements.
• Maintain records of customs transactions and clearance documents for audit purposes.
• Monitor regulatory changes and advise management on their impact
Government and Stakeholder Relations
• Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with customs authorities and relevant government agencies.
• Attend meetings with customs officials when required.
• Represent the company in customs-related communications and negotiations.
Reporting
• Prepare regular customs clearance and tax exmpetion reports.
• Maintain records of shipment clearance timelines and performance indicators.
• Report risks, delays, compliance issues, and operational challenges to management.
