About New Way Social & Development Organization (NSDO):

NSDO is a development, advocacy, and humanitarian organization established in 2011 and registered with the Ministry of Economy, Government of Afghanistan. NSDO is based in Kabul, with programming hubs across the north and northeastern provinces of the country. NSDO strives to empower the vulnerable and marginalized communities suffering from the impacts of war, natural calamities, poverty, and injustice. Additionally, NSDO is also working on the idea of integrated development, which encompasses socio-economic, cultural and good governance. Community Empowerment is the core to NSDO’s strategy to engage with grass-root groups and communities to address the root causes of poverty, inequalities and injustice.

 

Job Descriptions:
  • Participate in baseline surveys in target villages, including the identification and selection of 400 beneficiaries across three value chains (poultry, vegetables, and dairy & livestock).
  • Facilitate the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and deliver capacity-building trainings, including:
    • Roles and responsibilities
    • Leadership and decision-making
    • Record keeping and bookkeeping
    • Savings and internal lending
    • Household budgeting
    • Conflict resolution
    • Gender awareness and women’s empowerment
  • Support the Project Manager, Value Chain Specialists, and trainers in:
    • Preparing distribution lists
    • Organizing training logistics (refreshments, banners, materials)
    • Mobilizing SHG members and beneficiaries
    • Daily follow-up and field-level coordination
  • Assist in the implementation of livelihood activities, including:
    • Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) training
    • Poultry value chain training (three rounds)
    • Improved vegetable production (land preparation, transplanting)
    • Greenhouse cultivation techniques
    • Distribution of seasonal vegetable seeds (e.g., tomato, onion, garlic)
    • Animal husbandry, livestock nutrition, and milk processing training
    • Vaccination campaigns and veterinary support (including feed/kunjara support)
    • Organization of trade shows and establishment of collection centers
    • Exposure visits to successful SHGs
    • Automatic Egg Incubator   distributions and technical training
    • Establishment of community-managed child-safe spaces
  • Facilitate community-level training, field days, and awareness sessions on:
    • Post-harvest management
    • Financial literacy
    • Nutrition-sensitive agriculture
  • Support implementation of weekly work plans, ensuring integration of:
    • Gender mainstreaming
    • Resilience and sustainability approaches
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders, service providers, and partners to ensure:
    • Access to agricultural inputs
    • Financial services
    • Market linkages
  • Mobilize and empower community members, especially women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), to adopt sustainable livelihood practices.
  • Develop and maintain beneficiary databases, including:
    • Value chain beneficiaries
    • Children beneficiaries
    • Religious leaders
    • National ID (Tazkira) records
  • Support data collection and validation of project indicators at the community level.
  • Assist in regular field monitoring visits and ensure compliance with project standards and donor requirements.
  • Document success stories, lessons learned, innovations, and challenges, including photos and brief reports.
  • Support tracking of field-level expenditures and resource utilization in coordination with the Project Manager and Value Chain Specialists.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly reports by providing accurate field-level inputs.
Job Requirements:
  • Graduated from Agriculture, Agri-livelihoods, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, or Agricultural Extension.
  • At least 2 years of relevant field experience in:
    • Community mobilization
    • Livelihoods or economic development projects
    • Climate-smart agriculture programs
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Market systems
    • Agricultural extension services
    • Community capacity building PLA/PRA
  • Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills to work with diverse community groups.
  • Good communication skills, including basic report writing.
  • Fluency in local languages (Dari/Pashto) and basic computer skills (MS Office).
  • Knowledge of Gender and Social Inclusion (GSI); experience in gender mainstreaming is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Agri-Nutrition is an advantage.

Willingness and ability to travel regularly to villages in Kunduz Center and Imam Sahib districts.
