Job Summary
The Head of Dermatology is responsible for the overall leadership, clinical governance, and operational management of the dermatology department. The role ensures delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Leadership
- Oversee diagnosis and management of skin, hair, and nail disorders
- Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and best practices
- Supervise dermatology procedures (biopsies, excisions, laser therapy, etc.)
- Manage complex and referral cases
2. Administrative & Operational Management
- Plan and coordinate departmental services
- Develop policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures
- Monitor patient flow, service efficiency, and resource utilization
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and supplies
3. Staff Supervision & Development
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate dermatology staff (physicians, nurses, technicians)
- Organize training, CME activities, and professional development
- Participate in recruitment and performance appraisal
4. Quality & Safety
- Implement quality assurance and infection control measures
- Monitor clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction
- Ensure compliance with hospital accreditation standards
5. Academic & Research (if applicable)
- Promote clinical research and publications
- Conduct teaching sessions for junior staff and students
6. Collaboration
- Work with other departments for multidisciplinary care
- Participate in hospital committees and strategic planning
