NSRDO is a youth-led organization founded in 2006, dedicated to empowering marginalized women, children, and people with disabilities across Afghanistan. We focus on uplifting vulnerable communities by addressing critical issues such as poverty, education, WASH, healthcare, and sustainable development. Guided by the belief that everyone deserves a fair chance at a better future, we work tirelessly to provide resources, support, and hope to those in need.

We also work in food & security, agriculture, emergency relief, nutrition, peacebuilding, livelihood, community infrastructure, and the defense of human rights. NSRDO commenced its operations in 2005. Since then, NSRDO has been operating in Kabul and other provinces of Afghanistan and has regional offices in Nangarhar, Kandahar, Herat, Kunduz, Bamyan, and Paktia Provinces, along with its head office in Kabul.
NSRDO was registered in the Ministry of Planning by decision no. (951) dated 25/6/1383 and entitled to work in the capital, Kabul, and other provinces. This is also reregistered in the Ministry of Economy by decision no. (598) dated 8/6/06. Additionally, the US Embassy, the European Commission, the Canadian Fund, UNPP, UNGM, MoLSA, MoMD, MoE, and MoPH all have NSRDO registered.

Job Descriptions:

The HR Assistant will report directly to the HR Officer and will be responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department in the implementation of the School Feeding Project. The HR Assistant will ensure that HR processes, documentation, and staff-related activities are carried out efficiently and in compliance with NSRDO policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment process for project staff, including preparing job advertisements, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and coordinating onboarding processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including contracts, personal files, attendance sheets, leave applications, and performance appraisals.
  • Support the preparation and issuance of employment contracts and ensure compliance with NSRDO’s HR policies and labor laws.
  • Assist in tracking staff attendance and leave records, ensuring proper documentation and timely updates to the HR database.
  • Facilitate the orientation of new staff members, providing them with information on organizational policies, procedures, and their roles within the project.
  • Coordinate with the finance department to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and staff benefits.
  • Support the organization of capacity-building activities and training sessions for project staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in the implementation of staff performance evaluation processes, including scheduling, documentation, and follow-up on feedback.
  • Provide administrative support for HR-related meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits, ensuring clear communication and resolution of issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with NSRDO’s policies on data protection and employee privacy.
  • Support the coordination of disciplinary procedures and ensure proper documentation of incidents and actions taken.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of staff welfare activities to promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Monitor and report on HR-related issues and challenges to the HR Officer, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with NSRDO’s child safeguarding and ‘do no harm’ principles in all HR processes and activities.
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure HR support is aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the School Feeding Project.
  • Perform any other HR-related tasks assigned by the HR Officer or relevant supervisors to support the efficient implementation of the project.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in HR-related roles, preferably with national or international NGOs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with staff, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Pashto and Dari (reading, writing, and speaking); working knowledge of English is preferred.
  • Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and labor laws in Afghanistan.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HR management systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining employee records and preparing reports.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations as required to support HR-related activities.
