Job Descriptions:

The Child Protection Technical Officer is responsible for supporting the effective implementation of child protection interventions at field level in line with organizational and donor standards. The role focuses on delivering integrated protection services, including psychosocial support, case management support, and community-based child protection activities. The Officer works closely with community structures to identify, prevent, and respond to child protection risks and vulnerabilities. The position ensures safe, inclusive, and accessible services for children, particularly the most vulnerable. The Officer contributes to proper documentation, monitoring, and reporting of protection activities. Additionally, the role promotes safeguarding, PSEA, and child protection principles across all interventions.

Responsibilities:

Support the implementation of child protection activities in target districts according to the project workplan.

Assist in establishing and maintaining community-based protection structures at community level.

Support the setup and daily activities of Child Care Centers (CCCs).

Deliver basic psychosocial support (PSS) activities and assist in recreational and structured sessions for children.

Assist in the distribution of educational, recreational, and hygiene kits, ensuring proper recording.

Support and conduct positive parenting sessions and support family counselling activities.

Work with community members to identify children at risk and protection concerns.

Support community awareness sessions on child protection, safeguarding, and related issues.

Regularly visit Child Care Centers (CCCs) to monitor child protection activities, ensure quality service delivery, and maintain continuity of operations.

Help strengthen referrals between community and available service providers.

Identify and refer vulnerable cases to the and supervise the case management process.

Support case workers in follow-up of cases when required.

Perform other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, International Development, or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years of proven experience preferably in child protection or humanitarian programs, community-based interventions, and coordination with Community Stakeholders.

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, PSEA, GBV/SoV, and disability inclusion principles.

Experience in maintaining accurate and organized documentation of project activities, beneficiary data, and service delivery records.

Solid understanding of community-based protection approaches and case management processes.

Fluent in Dari, Pashto, and English, both written and verbal.

Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability and willingness to travel to field sites and work in challenging environments.

Excellent planning, organizational, and leadership skills.

Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

Ability to work independently and flexibly while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
