The Project Manager will lead the overall implementation of Community-Based Schools (CBS) and Education in Emergencies (EiE) Classes in Ghazni and Herat, ensuring effective planning, coordination, supervision, and quality delivery of education activities. The Project Manager will be responsible for programme management, stakeholder coordination, team supervision, reporting, compliance, and achievement of project objectives in line with organizational and donor requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities
Project Planning and Overall Management:
Lead the planning, execution, and day-to-day management of CBS and EiE programme activities in line with the approved proposal, work plan, implementation schedule, and budget.
Ensure all education activities are implemented efficiently, on time, within scope, and in accordance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and agreed quality standards across all target locations.
Team Supervision and Performance Management:
Supervise, guide, and support project staff including teachers, facilitators, and community mobilizers to ensure coordinated and high-quality implementation of CBS and EiE classes.
Set clear work priorities, monitor staff performance, provide regular feedback, and promote teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct within the project team.
Stakeholder Coordination and Representation:
Coordinate closely with provincial and district education authorities, community leaders, parents, and school management structures to support smooth implementation and transparent beneficiary selection.
Represent WYFAO in education coordination meetings, forums, and field engagements at provincial and district levels, maintaining positive working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
Programme Quality and Technical Oversight:
Oversee the quality of teaching and learning processes in CBS and EiE classes, ensuring alignment with national curriculum standards and EiE guidelines.
Ensure integration of child protection, psychosocial support, gender equality, and inclusive education practices within all programme activities.
Identify implementation gaps and take timely corrective actions to improve learning outcomes and overall programme performance.
Work Planning, Budget Follow-up, and Resource Management:
Prepare and monitor detailed implementation plans, class schedules, teacher deployment plans, and procurement requests for teaching and learning materials.
Follow up project expenditures and budget utilization in coordination with finance and operations teams, ensuring cost-effective implementation and compliance with approved budgets.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation:
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of project reports, attendance records, beneficiary data, learning assessments, and other required documentation for internal and donor reporting.
Work closely with MEAL staff to monitor progress against targets, document lessons learned, and support evidence-based reporting on education outcomes and challenges.
Safeguarding, Risk Management, and Compliance:
Ensure all CBS and EiE activities are implemented in line with safeguarding principles, child protection standards, organizational policies, and donor regulations.
Identify risks such as access constraints, protection concerns, and operational challenges, and implement appropriate mitigation measures in coordination with senior management.
Any Other Supportive Duties:
Support assessments, field visits, coordination activities, audits, and other programme-related tasks as required by the supervisor or senior management.
Carry out any other responsibilities necessary for the effective management and successful delivery of CBS and EiE programmes.
