The Livelihood Officer will support the implementation of the WCUK–WASSA SIDA-funded project in Badghis Province, focusing on climate-resilient livelihoods, income-generating activities (IGA), vocational skills development (TVET), and community-led economic initiatives. The position will contribute to strengthening household resilience, improving economic opportunities, and supporting vulnerable communities through sustainable livelihood approaches integrated with community-based structures (CBS) and protection-sensitive programming.
The Livelihood Officer will work closely with project staff, communities, and stakeholders to ensure effective implementation, monitoring, and sustainability of livelihood interventions in alignment with project objectives and donor requirements.
2. Scope of Work
The Livelihood Officer will support planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of livelihood activities under the project. The role includes facilitating community engagement, supporting training and economic activities, ensuring quality implementation, and contributing to reporting and learning processes.
3. Key Responsibilities
A. Livelihood Program Implementation
- Support planning and implementation of climate-resilient livelihood activities aligned with project objectives and work plans.
- Facilitate establishment and strengthening of community-based livelihood initiatives through Community-Based Structures (CBS).
- Support implementation of income-generating activities (IGA), vocational skills training (TVET), and economic empowerment interventions.
- Conduct beneficiary identification and selection processes based on vulnerability criteria and inclusion principles.
- Provide technical support to beneficiaries and community groups to improve productivity, sustainability, and market linkages.
- Assist in organizing trainings, workshops, and capacity-building activities related to livelihoods and economic resilience.
- Ensure integration of protection-sensitive approaches and child safeguarding considerations into livelihood activities.
B. Community Engagement and Coordination
- Engage with community leaders, CBS members, and local stakeholders to support implementation and ownership of livelihood interventions.
- Facilitate community consultations and participatory planning processes.
- Coordinate with local authorities, partners, and other actors to enhance collaboration and avoid duplication.
- Support advocacy efforts to promote sustainable livelihood opportunities for vulnerable groups.
C. Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning
- Support monitoring of livelihood activities and ensure data collection aligned with project indicators and MEAL requirements.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress, identify challenges, and recommend improvements.
- Contribute to preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports related to livelihood activities.
- Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices from livelihood interventions.
- Work closely with the MEAL team to ensure quality data collection and reporting.
D. Cross-Cutting Responsibilities
- Promote gender equality, disability inclusion, and women’s economic empowerment in all livelihood activities.
- Ensure Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) by integrating feedback mechanisms into program activities.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, child protection, and PSEA standards.
- Apply conflict-sensitive approaches during implementation.
