Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.

The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

AKHS, A is currently implementing healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Kabul and Takhar provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary healthcare, preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. As BPHS and EPHS implementer, AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwives.

AKHS, A draws on internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary support to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A has introduced innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is also implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission initiatives.

Job Descriptions:

Objective for HR Trainee:

  • Learning Opportunity: Gain exposure to various HR functions recruitment and selection, Human Resource Planning, Performance Management, Employee Engagement, Policy Formulation & Compliance, Personal Well-being, payroll management, recruitment, and employee development.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative tasks such as updating employee records and screening resumes and making long list according to the tools.
  • Support Role: Assist in preparing HR-related reports and addressing employee queries.
  • Employee Personnel File: Ensure all proper documentation of the newly hired staff as per standard checklist of to the position and archive it accordingly for easy access.
  • Ensure quality based documentation of HR files and any other in/out letters.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Participate in test session for female position.
  • Follow up attendance record and cross check leave management.
  • To train more about HR process, file collection, intra-organization communication, professional behaviour and etc…
  • Assists HR department in routine tasks and facilitate some of the process for smooth running the department operations.
  • exposures how to update records e.g. MOPH ID cards list and AKDN ID cards list.
  • Archives and fill database of related to HR department.
  • Any other assignments given by AKHS, A HR Department.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and any relevant field from recognized university.
  • Fluent, Pashto, Dari and English.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership and team management abilities with focus on staff development.
  • High degree of integrity, honesty and transparency.
  • Strong integrity with the sensitivity to manage confidential information.
  • Have excellent interpersonal, leading and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to guide teams and manage direct reports effectively.
  • Culturally sensitive, inclusive and respectful of diverse populations.
