The Database Officer is responsible for maintaining and upgrading the central and project-specific databases, conducting data analysis, and supporting the design of various database tools and strategies. Create and maintain appropriate database for all CBSs, ECCDs, and Catch-up teachers, SMS members and others, in line with WADAN guidelines; Provide accurate, reliable and insightful data analysis as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Provincial Manager and Project Coordinator, the incumbent of this position will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Class, Teacher and Students profiles with specific code numbers and enter data from paper documents to computer system on daily basis.
- Maintain and further develop the structure or format of the databases as required; and implement proper backup, restore, data validation, and security procedures to ensure data integrity and availability;
- Sort and organize data before entering it into the database and verify the accuracy of data.
- Confirm the date, location and numbers are entered into the system correctly, maintain logs of activities and completed work, promptly inputting of sensitive and accounting data into database.
- Ensure proper filing of hard and soft copies of survey questionnaires, lists of teachers, SMS members or other data collection tools or documents;
- Provide database technical support to WADAN teams, and troubleshoot both hardware and software issues.
- Verify the accuracy of the data collected during assessments and clean data collected during assessments and flag any issues to the relevant departments;
- Extract queries, figures, and reports from the database; and generate data visualization such as charts, graphs, tables to be included in communication tools, reports, assessments and any other documents as per needs;
- In collaboration with the Education Officer, provide data analysis of projects’ activities and assessment data.
- Support the improvements of the data collection tools and processes and pilot new ideas with assessment teams in the field.
