The Canadian International Community Association (CICA) is an international humanitarian and development non-profit organization headquartered in Ontario, Canada, with a strong operational presence in Afghanistan. Since its establishment in 2019, CICA has been working to support vulnerable communities affected by conflict, poverty, displacement, and natural disasters through sustainable and community-driven programmes.
In Afghanistan, CICA implements a wide range of interventions focusing on youth empowerment, education, digital skills development, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), health, nutrition, women’s empowerment, and livelihoods. The organization works closely with local communities, authorities, and international partners to deliver inclusive and impactful programmes that respond to the urgent humanitarian and development needs of the country.
CICA places a strong emphasis on capacity building, skills development, and creating pathways for adolescents and youth—particularly girls and young women—to access education, employment, and self-employment opportunities. Through its experienced national teams and local networks, CICA ensures that programmes are implemented in line with international standards, including safeguarding, gender equality, accountability to affected populations (AAP), and environmental and social safeguards.
By combining local knowledge with international best practices, CICA continues to contribute to resilient communities, improved livelihoods, and sustainable development in Afghanistan.
