Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

A Maintenance Officer ensures the safety, functionality, and repair of facilities and equipment. They perform preventive maintenance, handle repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry), manage safety compliance, and coordinate with contractors. Responsibilities include building maintenance, groundskeeping, and conducting regular safety inspections to keep facilities in optimal condition.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Performing regular, scheduled maintenance on building systems (HVAC, lighting, plumbing) and responding to repair requests.
  • Facilities Management: Maintaining building structures, including painting, decorating, carpentry, and cleaning, to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, such as fire safety, and inspecting facilities for hazards.
  • Contractor Liaison: Coordinating with external contractors for specialized work, overseeing their performance, and sourcing quotes.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Keeping records of maintenance activities, inventory of equipment, and reporting major issues to management.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Maintaining external areas, such as parking lots, pathways, and landscaping.

  • High School degree required

Other skills required:

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing equipment faults.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy equipment, and work in various conditions.
  • Communication: Effective communication to coordinate with staff and contractors.
  • Organization: Ability to manage maintenance schedules and prioritize repairs.
  • Typical Requirements
  • Previous experience in facility maintenance or a related technical field.
  • Relevant vocational training or certifications (e.g., electrical, plumbing) are often required.
  • A valid driver's license may be required.
