Job Summery & Purpose
The Vaccinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring vaccination activities for eligible children and women at fixed health centers and outreach sites. This role ensures proper cold chain management, safe injection practices, accurate record-keeping, and timely reporting of vaccination coverage and adverse events. The incumbent will provide health education, participate in immunization campaigns, maintain vaccine and supply stocks, and adhere to national immunization standards to ensure high-quality and safe immunization services. The position requires strong coordination skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in both fixed and outreach health services.
Duties and Responsibilities;
- Administer vaccines systematically to eligible women and children at fixed health centers and outreach areas.
- Daily management and monitoring of vaccine cold chain, including maintaining correct temperature and cleaning refrigerators according to national immunization standards.
- Maintain regular attendance and timely reporting systems.
- Ensure consistent availability of vaccines and essential supplies at health facilities and submit timely requisitions for replenishment.
- Safeguard and maintain all vaccination-related equipment and tools at fixed health centers.
- Participate in campaign activities for epidemic control of communicable diseases.
- Provide health education as per the health center schedule.
- Ensure safe injection practices during immunization.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports and reports of adverse events following immunization (AEFI).
Detailed Activities:
- Demonstrate professional and courteous behavior with clients.
- Observe safe injection practices while administering vaccines.
- Properly dispose of used needles and syringes in safety boxes.
- Educate clients on the importance of vaccination and proper maintenance of vaccination cards.
- Monitor daily vaccine temperatures and record them at the start and end of sessions.
- Record administered vaccines in registers and tally sheets.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports to the supervisor on time.
- Continuously work to improve professional knowledge and skills.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of the vaccination room.
- Implement quality assurance standards and other initiatives to improve service quality.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the organization or clinic supervisor according to institutional procedures and protocols.
