Overall Responsibilities
The Nutrition Supervisor will lead the implementation of nutrition services under the Scale-Up of Nutrition Program across Family Health Houses (FHHs) and Non-HER Health Facilities in Nuristan, Nangarhar, and Kunar provinces. This female supervisor will provide regular supportive supervision and on-the-job training to nutrition nurses and counselors, ensuring effective coordination with health facility staff, FHH teams, and community members. She will conduct routine field visits to guarantee smooth project implementation and adherence to AWUDO and donor requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular supportive supervision visits to targeted FHHs and Non-HER Health Facilities in Nangarhar, Kunar, and Nuristan provinces.
- Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and technical guidance to Nutrition Nurses and Nutrition Counselors.
- Ensure all children under five are screened for malnutrition and that Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) is provided as identified Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) cases.
- Oversee delivery of Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counseling, along with other health messages to women and adolescent girls visiting FHHs and Non-HER facilities.
- Strengthen staff capacity in nutrition management through formal and informal training sessions.
- Establish and maintain effective coordination with FHH staff, health facility teams, and Local Health Shuras (LHS).
- Ensure project staff have access to updated nutrition guidelines, procedures, manuals, databases, and reporting forms.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret nutrition data from the field, providing timely feedback to staff for program improvement.
- Prepare and submit nutrition reports (daily, monthly, quarterly, annual, and completion reports) in line with AWUDO and donor requirements.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure accurate data entry and reporting using standardized tools.
- Maintain accurate records (both digital and hard copies) of all nutrition-related documents and submit them promptly to the project team.
- Ensure compliance with AWUDO’s policies on child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, equal opportunities, and code of conduct.
- Respect the cultures, traditions, and customs of target communities during program implementation.
- Report any suspicions or violations of Safeguarding and Child Protection policies immediately.
- Contribute to the preparation and delivery of presentations at official nutrition-related events.
- Participate in nutrition data collection, situation analysis, and impact assessments.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by the line manager.
