Job Purpose
The Project Coordinator provides overall coordination, technical oversight, and quality assurance for WCUK’s SIDA-funded project implemented by both WCUK & WASSA in Badghis Province. The role ensures effective, safe, and compliant delivery of Climate Resilient Livelihoods, IGA/TVET, and Community-Based Child Protection activities in line with WCUK and donor standards.
A key responsibility is ensuring overall technical leadership, planning, program implementation support, coordination, monitoring, reporting, including weekly field updates, monthly progress reports, quarterly reviews, and final project reporting, while strengthening WASSA’s reporting and documentation capacity.
The coordinator maintains strong coordination between WCUK, WASSA, community structures, local authorities, and relevant stakeholders to support high-quality and accountable implementation. The project coordinator will report Sr. Manager- Program & Partnership position.
The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Project Coordination & Planning
- Provide leadership for all SIDA project activities and ensure adequate support to the WASSA team.
- Jointly with WASSA Project Manager prepare, update, and implement project work plans monthly or quarterly to guide the team in the implementation of the project activities.
- Support project internal and external coordination and ensure smooth implementation across all components.
- Support WASSA in developing and following work plans and activity calendars.
- Facilitate joint planning processes between WCUK, WASSA, and stakeholders.
- Ensure regular field updates and contribute to monthly and quarterly project reviews.
- Coordinate planning and implementation of child protection activities with partner staff
Technical Oversight & Partner Support
- Provide technical support on climate resilience & livelihood, IGA/TVET, and child protection components under the direction of WCUK Technical Advisors.
- Develop and review activity-based TORs/Concept notes.
- Ensure, technical capacities of WASSA field level Child Protection staff are enhanced to meet the requirements of expected project implementation.
- Review WASSA’s activity plans and provide necessary support to strengthen quality.
- Support WASSA in integrating safeguarding, inclusion, and child-safe practices.
- Facilitate joint technical sessions, basic trainings, and learning reviews.
Monitoring, Reporting & Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular field visits with WASSA-SIDA Project team and provide on the spot support.
- Produce weekly monitoring reports and active contribution to monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Review WASSA’s reporting submissions for accuracy and completeness.
- Support WCUK & WASSA MEAL colleagues with data verification and documentation quality.
- Contribute to final donor reporting through evidence consolidation.
- Strengthen and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders including community members, NGOs, government authorities in the implementation of Livelihood and Child Protection Interventions.
- Ensures good documentation and custody of information of different project activities by WCUK and partner staff including progressive reports and case studies.
Capacity Strengthening
- Initiate and support the development and delivery of partner capacity-building plans.
- Support WASSA teams in improving technical delivery, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Facilitate learning sessions with WASSA and CBSs to capture and share best practices.
Child Protection & Safeguarding
- Ensure child protection minimum standards are respected in all activities.
- Support WASSA caseworkers in safe referral pathways and documentation (without managing cases directly).
- Ensure safeguarding incident reporting follows WCUK procedures.
- Support community awareness on child protection risks and safe practices.
Coordination & External Representation
- Jointly with WASSA project team, Coordinate with district and provincial authorities, community structures, and relevant NGOs.
- Represent WCUK in local coordination forums as delegated.
- Maintain clear communication between WCUK and WASSA project team and leadership.
Risk, Security & Compliance
- Monitor programme risks and raise concerns to the Senior Operations Manager.
- Ensure security protocols are followed during field missions.
- Ensure WASSA complies with WCUK’s Safeguarding, PSEAH, and Do No Harm standards.
