About the Role
We are building modern digital, software, and AI-driven products and are looking
for a UI/UX Software Engineer who can both design and implement user interfaces.
This role sits at the intersection of UI design, UX thinking, and frontend
engineering. You will be responsible for creating clean, intuitive, and modern user
experiences and turning them into high-quality, production-ready code.
This position requires strong software engineering skills combined with deep
experience in UI and UX. Candidates must be comfortable owning the full process,
from designing user experiences to implementing them in production-quality code.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands users, design systems, and
frontend architecture, and can independently build and ship products, including
web platforms and mobile applications.
You will work on complex products, and help run rapid build–test–validate cycles
across multiple ideas. You should be comfortable using modern AI tools such to
accelerate development and ship quickly.
This is an early, high-ownership role for a strong UI/UX Software Engineer who
enjoys moving fast, experimenting, and turning ideas into working products. Fluent
English communication is required, along with a genuine interest in leveraging AI
tools to build and iterate at speed.
Note: We are not looking for a full-stack or backend software engineer. This role
requires deep, hands-on expertise in UI/UX Software Engineering, with a strong
focus on frontend development and product design.

Responsibilities
What You Will Do
• Design user interfaces and flows for web-based software products
• Translate UX concepts and wireframes into working frontend code
• Build responsive, modern, and scalable web interfaces
• Continuously improve usability based on user behavior and feedback
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams
• Maintain and evolve design systems and UI consistency across products

Rapid Experimentation
• Execute fast MVP builds for multiple ideas.
• Run quick cycles with real customer feedback.
• Help evaluate what’s working and what should be killed.
Technical Ownership
• Make architecture decisions.
• Maintain code, performance, debugging and product quality.
• Manage deployments, monitoring, and improvements.
• Own the full technical stack for frontend production and development.

Period of contract: 1 year (full-time) – extendable upon satisfactory performance
Station: Online/Remote
The candidate will be required to work from ABCO’s Kabul Office during the first
month of the probationary period. Only after completing the first month, the
candidate may perform his/her duties remotely.
 

Required Qualifications
Required Experience
• Minimum 3 years of proven experience in UI/UX design
• Minimum 3 years of proven experience in frontend / web development
• Strong portfolio of user-friendly, modern websites and web apps
• Experience working on digital or software products (not only marketing sites)

Core Engineering Skills _ Frontend Engineering
• Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Strong experience with React and modern component-based architectures
(Next.js or similar frameworks strongly preferred)
• Deep understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
Core Engineering Skills _ UI & UX Implementation
• Ability to translate UX flows and UI designs into clean, maintainable code
• Strong knowledge of design systems, reusable components, and style consistency
• Solid understanding of typography, spacing, layout, and visual hierarchy
• Experience implementing animations and micro-interactions
• Familiarity with analytics and user behavior tools (e.g., event tracking)
• Experience designing complex dashboards or workflows

Core Engineering Skills _ Software Engineering
• Version control using Git (branching, PRs, code reviews)
• Understanding of basic software design principles and trade-offs
• Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL
• Strong handling of async data, loading states, and error management
• Familiarity with authentication flows (JWT, OAuth, session-based auth)
• Knowledge of frontend performance optimization
• Understanding of accessibility basics (WCAG) and performance best practices
• Experience using package managers, build tools, and linters (npm, yarn, bun,
Vite, Webpack, etc.)
• Familiarity with design tools (Figma, Sketch, or similar)

Builder Mindset
• Can take a rough idea or prompt and turn it into a working product within days.
• Comfortable working fast, shipping MVPs, and iterating from real user
feedback.
• Excited about exploring multiple ideas using a structured loop: Build → Test →
Get real-world feedback → Validate fast → Kill or double-down.
• Strong ownership, and independence. And ability to demonstrate such mindset.
