Médecins du Monde - France (MdM-F) is an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to provide medical care for the most vulnerable populations, the world over, including Afghanistan. It seeks to stimulate voluntary commitment from doctors, other health care providers, and from those whose expertise in other fields is needed for its activities, to enlist all competent support required for the achievement of its projects, and to seek at all times to encourage close working relationships with populations in its care.

Purpose of the Position

The Communication Intern will support the implementation of MdM-F communication activities by assisting in content development, internal and external communications, and visibility actions. The position aims to provide hands-on experience in humanitarian communications while contributing to MdM-F’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the General Coordinator in implementing the organization’s communication plan.
• Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading communication materials such as reports, briefs, social media content, and internal updates.
• Assist in documenting MdM-F activities, events, and field visits (stories, photos, captions).
• Support coordination with internal departments for communication and visibility needs.
• Maintain organized communication files and archives.
• Perform any other communication-related tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Marketing, International Relations, Development Studies, or any other related field.

Experience

• No prior experience required – fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Competencies & Skills

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English, Dari, and Pashto.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and basic digital marketing concepts.
• Familiarity with MS Office packages (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook).
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and follow organizational guidelines.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative.

Reporting Line

• The Communication Intern reports directly to the General Coordinator (GenCo).
