Job Descriptions:

Job Summary

The System Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring, security, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise IT systems and services. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of on-premises and cloud infrastructure. The position requires a specific technical focus on managing Dell hardware, Proximo virtualization clusters, and high-availability database environments, while ensuring strict compliance with IT policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Server & Infrastructure Management

  • Linux Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based servers (Alma Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian).
  • Dell Hardware Management: Manage and support Dell PowerEdge servers, specifically:
    • Performing BIOS, Firmware, and Lifecycle Controller updates.
    • Configuring and managing RAID via PERC controllers.
    • Utilizing iDRAC for configuration, remote monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Virtualization Engineering: Manage Proximo VE clustering, covering High Availability (HA) configuration, quorum management, node synchronization, and storage integration.
  • Hardware Health: Monitor hardware metrics (CPU, RAM, disks, fans, PSU) and proactively address hardware alerts to prevent downtime.
  • Capacity Planning: Perform capacity planning and system optimization specifically for Dell server environments.

2. IT Systems & Services Administration

Monitor, maintain, and secure the following core services:

  • Virtualization & Containers: Proximo VE, VMware, and Docker container environments.
  • Web Servers: Apache and Nginx optimization and management.
  • Database Management: Administration of MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL, with a strict requirement for managing Database Clustering, Replication, and High Availability configurations.
  • Core Infrastructure: Domain Controllers (Active Directory), File Servers, and Anti-Virus Servers.
  • Control Panels: Administration of Virtual in and cPanel.
  • DevOps: Management and maintenance of CI/CD Pipelines.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: Manage backup solutions (resync, Proximo Backup Server) and ensure data integrity through regular verification.

3. Security & Compliance

  • Access Control: Enforce security access controls for all servers and services; securely maintain system credentials using complex password policies.
  • Log Management: Review system and security logs; identify, record, and report suspicious activities or anomalies.
  • Policy Adherence: Ensure all system activities comply with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality and restrict unauthorized access to sensitive systems.

4. Monitoring, Incident & Change Management

  • Performance Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of system performance and service availability to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Incident Response: Record incidents, analyze root causes (RCA), and proactively resolve issues to minimize MTTR (Mean Time To Recovery).
  • Change Management: Maintain detailed change request logs and documentation for all system modifications.
  • Documentation: Supervise case management and maintain accurate system record-keeping processes.

5. Planning & Team Support

  • Strategy: Prepare action plans for major system expansions at Head Office and branch locations.
  • Research: Conduct market research to stay updated on emerging tools and best practices.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior IT staff to ensure service quality.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and Master degree in related field more preferable.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a System Administrator or in a similar infrastructure role.
  • Virtualization: Deep knowledge of Proximo VE (Clustering/HA) and VMware.
  • Database HA: Proven experience configuring Database Clustering and Replication (MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL).
  • Networking: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Firewall configurations, DNS, VLANs, and Switching.
  • Scripting: Proficiency in scripting for automation (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
  • Hardware: Hands-on experience with Dell PowerEdge Servers, NAS Storage, and iDRAC management.
  • Web Services: Experience managing web applications and online services.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Linux: LPIC, RHCE, or CompTIA Linux+
  • Microsoft: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • Other: Relevant infrastructure, cloud, or networking certifications (CCNA, etc.)
