Job Summary
A Poultry Veterinarian is responsible for maintaining the health, welfare, and productivity of poultry flocks. The role includes disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, biosecurity management, and advising farm management on best poultry health practices to ensure optimal production and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and evaluate the health status of poultry flocks
Diagnose, treat, and prevent poultry diseases
Design and implement vaccination and biosecurity programs
Prescribe and supervise the proper use of veterinary medicines
Conduct post-mortem examinations to identify causes of mortality
Advise on nutrition, housing, hygiene, and environmental management
Ensure compliance with animal health, welfare, and food safety standards
Maintain accurate health, treatment, and production records
Train farm staff on disease control and biosecurity measures
Respond to disease outbreaks and emergency health situations
