About French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children:

Job Descriptions:

The ideal candidate would be able to:

  1. Molecular Section
    The technologist will be responsible to:
  • Independently perform RT-PCR testing in accordance with established laboratory protocols, international guidelines, and quality standards.
  • Conduct nucleic acid extraction, PCR amplification, and real-time PCR analysis with high accuracy and precision.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of samples, reagents, consumables, and molecular waste materials.
  • Operate, monitor, and perform routine maintenance of PCR instruments, including advanced real-time PCR platforms and GeneXpert systems.
  • Implement internal quality controls and participate in external quality assurance programs for molecular testing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and records for all molecular procedures.
    1. Microbiology Section:

The technologist will be responsible to:

  • Perform routine microbiological testing, including specimen reception, processing, culturing, and antimicrobial sensitivity testing according to SOPs.
  • Identify, classify, and interpret the growth of microorganisms using standard microbiology techniques and automated microbial identification systems.
  • Operate and maintain modern microbiology instruments and ensure their proper calibration and functionality.
  • Maintain strict aseptic conditions and ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment in the microbiology section.
  • Support infection prevention and control (IPC) practices by adhering to biosafety guidelines and collaborating with colleagues to ensure compliance.
  • Participate in microbiology quality control activities, documentation, and continuous improvement processes.
    1. Other Responsibilities:
    • Adhere to all national and international guidelines, laboratory standards, biosafety regulations, and data integrity requirements across all assigned sections.
    • Participate in internal and external quality assurance and proficiency testing programs as required by the department.
    • Support quality improvement initiatives and assist in the development, review, and implementation of laboratory SOPs, policies, and procedures.
    • Contribute to the training and mentorship of junior staff, interns, and trainees in accordance with departmental guidelines.
    • Comply with daily safety practices outlined in the laboratory safety manual to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Monitor and document relevant quality indicators in assigned sections to support continuous quality improvement.
    • Perform any other related duties assigned by the Laboratory Manager or Pathologist to enhance laboratory service quality.
Job Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Microbiology or a related field from a recognized university, with a minimum of 2 years of direct experience in both Molecular and Microbiology sections; or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of direct experience in both Molecular and Microbiology sections.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of molecular biology principles, nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR techniques, and standard microbiological procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate automated microbial identification systems and other advanced laboratory technologies.
  • Proficiency in laboratory documentation, data entry, and relevant computer software for molecular and microbiology data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound technical decisions based on established protocols and quality standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational capabilities, and effective task prioritization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with national and international laboratory standards, biosafety regulations, and quality management systems.
