Role Purpose:
The Community Mobilizer (CM) will be responsible to ensure the continued program functionality in the region. The incumbent will be responsible for engage with communities for the purpose of raising awareness, community mobilizations, agricultural and EWS technical training, coordination, conducting surveys and overall be responsible for the successful program implementation in the target locations.
The CM represents Mission East’s values while engaging with communities i.e. compassion, honesty, respect and valuing individual, and ensuring that project interventions are implemented in a transparent, inclusive, and accountable manner.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Vertically: Project Coordinator
Horizontally: Reporting & Compliance officer, Finance Officer, Feedback and Compliance Mechanism Officer, Fleet and Warehouse officer.
Scope of the Role:
Reporting to Project Coordinator to ensure the quality of program implementation, donor compliances and reporting in line with the Missions East country strategies, vision, mission and values and/or as per donor required standards.
Participating in data collection and providing support to target stakeholders, including direct project beneficiaries, as an agricultural and EWS technical trainer.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
The CM is accountable to fulfil his/her roles and responsibilities in line with Mission East Code of Conduct, values, principles and to report to his/ her line manager on defined key performance indicators as follows:
Program Management:
- Provide orientation to the communities and stakeholders and obtain their agreement for participation in the project activities.
- Facilitate data collection and transparent beneficiary selection in coordination with community leaders, community leaders, and relevant authorities. He/she should be familiar with Kobo system.
- Support in beneficiaries' identification, registration verification and selection in line project guidelines and principles.
- Mobilize and sensitize communities on FAO project objectives, selection criteria, and planned activities.
- Assist in organizing and supervising the distribution of poultry, wheat seeds, fertilizers, and summer crop inputs.
- Conduct community meetings to raise awareness about project goals, activities, and benefits.
- Build trust and rapport with local communities, leaders, and farmers.
- Encourage participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups in agricultural activities. Conduct training sessionsand demonstrations on improved agricultural practices (e.g., crop management, soil health, pest control, irrigation, etc.).
- Promote climate-smart agriculture and sustainable farming techniques.
- Disseminate knowledge about new technologies, quality seeds, fertilizers, and mechanization options.
- Liaise and engage with different layers of communities incl. community elders, religious leader to enhance the program effectiveness.
- Read carefully and understand the project related documents. Identify roles of CM and project compliance expectations with support from Project Coordinator and other team members.
- Obtain communities agreement and willingness to ensure their participation in trainings, surveys and other project related activities.
- Work on the creating community-based committees, community interest groups, producer groups, ensuring an inclusivity and fairness.
- Facilitate in the process of collecting communities’ information regarding their needs and priorities on timely manner with project coordinator.
- Act as a liaison between the project team and the community, facilitating communication and feedback. Sensitize C/FRM project stakeholders including direct beneficiaries.
- Ensure that all project activities meet quality standards and promote transparency and accountability and ensure communities understands complaint mechanism.
- Participate in district and community level meeting and emergency related events.
- Promote equity and inclusion. Ensure that gender, protection, and safeguarding principles are mainstreamed in all community engagement activities.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Maintain accurate records of trainings, farmer groups, and field performance.
- Collect data on crop yields, adoption rates, and farmer income for project reporting.
- Report challenges, feedback, and success stories to project coordinator.
- Participate in project evaluations and contribute to learning and improvement.
Networking/Coordination and Others:
- Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation and foster strong partnerships.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with district authorities, CDC members/elders/Arbabs village maintenance council, and community representatives.
- Represent Mission East at clusters, district and community meetings and discussion in coordination with PM.
Miscellaneous:
- Comply with MEED policies and practices, especially with respect to PSEA, child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, and equality.
- Any other tasks assigned by line manager to achieve the objectives of position.
