Job Descriptions:

The cleaner is the individual responsible for cleaning the health facility's rooms and items/equipment. She must also assist in the maintenance and care of these items.

The cleaner is responsible for:

  • The cleaner is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting all patient rooms, waiting areas, and administrative spaces.
  • Sanitize medical equipment areas and ensure hygiene standards are upheld. 
  • Assist with proper segregation and disposal of medical and general waste.
  • Maintain restrooms, replenish supplies, and report maintenance issues.
  • Support laundry operations for linens and staff uniforms if applicable.
  • Follow enhanced cleaning protocols during disease outbreaks.
  • Monitor cleaning supply inventory and report shortages.
  • Respond promptly to emergency cleaning needs (e.g., spills, contamination).
  • Maintain cleanliness of outdoor facility areas, including walkways and entrances.
  • Apply hygiene practices aligned with BPHS and internal health protocols.
Job Requirements:
  • Prior experience in cleaning or sanitation roles, especially in health. 
  • Familiarity with hygiene and infection prevention practices.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to remain alert during duty hours.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with healthcare staff and patients.
  • Respect for patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of local languages (Dari and Pashto).
