Under the supervision of the provincial team leader and the technical coordinator, the field officers are in charge of overall field activities, including but not limited to:
Follow up with institutions and local authorities
The field officers are in charge of managing their activities and project implementation with local authorities and community leaders. They should introduce the project, its aim, activities, and implementation methodology to the local stakeholders and local authorities.
Selection and training of local artisans
The Field Officer is in charge of:
- Selection of the most eligible artisans as per the pre-designed selection policy
- Interview, meetings, and contract with selected artisans
- Under the supervision of the technical coordinator and energy specialist, design and provide theory and practical training for selected artisans on validated energy saving solutions (solar veranda, improved Degdan, oven cap, solar cooker etc)
- Support and supervise trained artisans during ESS installations and or construction
- Monitoring of trained artisans and managing their field work
- Support trained artisans for job opportunities and business development

Implementation of Energy Saving Solutions
The Field Officer is in charge of managing overall processes of ESS construction and or installations, including:
- Selection of the most eligible houses or beneficiaries for ESS as per pre pre-designed selection policy and forms
- Visit pre-selected houses/beneficiaries, interview them, and collect key data in due to pre-designed forms
- Support the final selection of the most eligible houses for each ESS
- Visit and monitor field work
- Quality check and quality insurance of the ESS to be assessed in due with RMO standards and pre-designed guidelines
- Support the M&E department for payments of subsidies and or aids to selected beneficiaries
- Link craftsmen to households and to the project activities
- Support artisans with technical issues at the field level
Support for Awareness Activities
The Field Officer works in collaboration with other team members, especially the awareness team. The Field Officers are requested to support the awareness team in the field:
- In coordination with community leaders, support the organization of awareness-raising events at the field level
- Provide technical aspects for the awareness team to add to their presentations
- Support men awareness events on stakeholder or community level (organizing, attending, and making a presentation)
- Support organization of indirect awareness campaign (banners, posters etc)
M&E Activities
The Field Officer participates to monitoring and evaluation activities, through: planning and reporting of their activities on a weekly basis according to the project M&E system; monitoring of construction and craftsmen activities according to the project M&E system.
The Field Officer participates actively in the implementation of specific monitoring campaigns for the developed technologies, e.g., fuel and temperature monitoring in winter, need assessments, and surveys.
The Field Officer can be requested to take part to additional punctual surveys.
Logistic and budget follow-up
No direct and specific role for the field officer to be involved in budget and procurement; however, he/she will have a supportive role in charge of team members at the district level. He/ She might be involved in collecting quotations, supporting local purchase, collecting and submitting procurement documents to the logistics of finance in charge at the provincial level.
Reporting
- Collects data and draws monthly/quarterly progress reports to the line manager
- Manage the photo database of the field, he/she collects, sorts, and submits the best quality photos to M&E and the line manager as per the agreed timeline
- Draft project reports and or presentations to local authorities as per their format.
- Perform any other related task assigned by project management.
