Afghan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization APBHO has emerged as a non-governmental, non-political, not-for-profit organization in April 2019 with its long experience as a team (Youth Council) advocating for the rights of communities especially children and women affected by conflicts, and humanitarian crisis in fragile settings.

Most of APBHO’s peacebuilding efforts focus on community-based conflict resolution and environmental peace-building on grass-root level.  APBHO aims to shift repressive gender norms and equip citizens with the skills to resolve any type of differences and conflicts non-violently.

Job Descriptions:

The Media Officer will support APBHO’s humanitarian projects by documenting activities, producing communication materials, and managing media relations. The role ensures that project achievements and community impact are effectively communicated to stakeholders, partners, and the public through photos, videos, reports, and social media.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture photos and videos of project activities and humanitarian interventions.
  • Draft press releases, success stories, and human-interest stories for donor and public sharing.
  • Manage APBHO’s social media pages and ensure regular updates.
  • Support in designing simple visibility materials (banners, brochures, posters).
  • Maintain a media archive (photos, videos, news coverage).
  • Ensure donor branding and visibility guidelines are followed in all project communications.
  • Assist program teams in preparing communication content for reports and presentations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local media outlets.
  • Support awareness campaigns, community events, and advocacy activities.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media & Communication, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in media, communication, or humanitarian visibility work.
  • Strong skills in photography, videography, and basic editing.
  • Good writing and reporting skills (English and local languages).
  • Familiarity with social media management.
