General Responsibilities:
The Biomedical Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical equipment used across OPHA-supported health facilities under the HER-AF and other OPHA related projects. This role ensures that all biomedical devices function safely and effectively, supporting quality health service delivery and minimizing equipment downtime.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on medical equipment.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure timely resolution to minimize service disruption.
- Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
2. Installation & Calibration
- Install new biomedical equipment and ensure proper setup and functionality.
- Perform calibration and testing of devices to meet safety and performance standards.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and national regulations.
3. Inventory & Asset Management
- Maintain an updated inventory of all biomedical equipment across project sites.
- Track equipment usage, condition, and service history.
- Support procurement processes by providing technical specifications and recommendations.
4. Training & Capacity Building
- Train health facility staff on proper use, basic troubleshooting, and care of medical equipment.
- Develop user manuals and quick-reference guides tailored to local contexts.
5. Quality Assurance & Safety
- Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and is free from hazards.
- Participate in facility assessments and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Report any risks or incidents related to equipment malfunction.
