The Liberty Equality Fraternity Afghanistan Organization (LEFAO) is a non-political, non-profit organization registered with Ministry of Economy. It is the only non-government resource in Afghanistan aimed to support innovative change in the local and urban governance system that benefits all Afghans. Its purpose is to assist local and urban government institutions to build stronger communities by generating research, providing insight and informing debate on current and emerging policy issues. The organization does not advocate for specific positions or policies. Its intent is to facilitate cost-effective research of strategic importance to local government and those it serves. LEFAO works as an independent voice for robust and policy-relevant research on local formal and informal political leadership; citizens, communities and place; and local and urban governance in Afghanistan

The organization is focusing on creating an intellectual space for addressing key strategic issues pertaining to local governance system in Afghanistan.

LEFAO seek to foster timely discussions on the local and urban governance system in Afghanistan by publishing high-quality research reports, case studies, lessons learned and promoting dialogue amongst a wide spectrum of stakeholders. LEFAO brings together an interdisciplinary team of researchers with a wealth of experience of working with practice and end-users to generate novel insights into pressing local and urban issues in Afghanistan.

The organization is also providing capacity building and consultancy support that focuses on promoting and advocating for quality, accessibility, parity, affordability and reliability in the delivery of social services by local and urban governance actors. LEFAO's work investigates localism, place stewardship and the rescaling of local and urban government; local democracy, voice and accountability; effectiveness and efficiencies and collaboration and innovation in the delivery of public services.

The organization is also working on promoting and providing development and relief services to the people of Afghanistan. LEFAO endeavors to reach the most disadvantaged groups in Afghan society, often under very difficult circumstances and is committed to provide much needed assistance to the most susceptible and marginalized groups including internally displaced person and women. LEFAO works in variety of fields that impact the lives of poor and needy through creative and cost-effective activities.

Job Descriptions:
  • The doctor will remain with other female staff members in the medical camp for 45 days.
  • The doctor will be allowed to be accompanied by her Mahram. The Mahram will not receive a salary but a daily remuneration as per the LEFAO policy.
  • The doctor will receive free food, transportation and a free mobile phone top up card compensation
  • The doctor will provide consultation and psychosocial advice and treatment plan to the female victims of the earthquake.
  • The doctor will check and diagnose the injuries and health problems of female victims and will give them medication and usage advise of medication.
  • The doctor will have special attention to the health of pregnant and lactating women and will treat them for their injuries on the spot with a follow up plan.
  • The doctor will educate the female patients from bleeding, injury infections and gangrene development. about
  • The doctor will provide emergency medical aid to female patients.
  • The surgeon doctor will treat the injuries of children and if needed the broken parts should be immobilized and treated.
  • The doctor will register each and every patient with details.
  • The doctor will admit serious patients in the LEFAO field camp and will apply medicine that is needed.
  • The doctor will officially refer patients who are not treatable in the field camp and who need intensive care in a hospital.
  • The doctor will coordinate everything with accompanying female nurses and doctors.
  • The doctor is responsible for treating every injury, stop bleeding and prevent severe infections and take care of diarrhea and skin infections
  • The doctor will keep a track record of the medicine received and medicine granted to patients.
  • The doctor has the responsibility of taking care of both OPD and IPD patients.
  • The doctor will stay every alternative night in the field camp along with her Mahram and a nurse and they’ll have a watchman outside the field medical camp.
  • The doctor will help in emergency delivery cases of the earthquake victims.

The doctor will have an alternative Friday off from work

Job Requirements:
  • MD with specialization in Surgery preferably in Orthopedic Surgery
  • 5 to 10 years proven experience in a hospital.
  • Excellent Pashto Speaking skills.
  • Must have computer skills.
  • Good organizational and reporting skill.
  • Ability to work under pressure in the field medical camp.
  • A doctor who signs a contract to work cannot leave the job suddenly before the expiry of contract, if she leaves, she is not entitled to receive the salary for the days she worked.
