Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all cases in need of basic and emergency medical assistance are provided with adequate health services.
- Provides basic medical screening, prescriptions for basic/essential medicines and makes referrals for chronic, emergency, or advanced care need cases.
- Ensure that medical protocols and prescriptions are in line with the diagnosis made and are followed appropriately by health personnel.
- Ensuring that universal infection control and precaution and hygiene standards are in place and maintained.
- Maintains regular contact with Directorate of Public Health staff and other local health stakeholders.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient information and daily entry into appropriate databases is maintained.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on the progress of field activities and challenges encountered, as well as summary information on patients screened, served, and referred.
- Maintains a regular medical supply stock record and communicates the need for replenishment with the MHU pharmacy team.
- Accompany and support the admission of emergency medical cases received at the border or IOM transit center to the appropriate treatment center.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and collaborative relationships with clients, partners, and health professionals.
- Assist the MHU programme in project monitoring and identifying priority health needs and other activities, including but not limited to regular disease outbreak monitoring and reporting, taking part in health awareness campaigns, etc.
- Take part in coordination meetings, workshops, training events and conferences at the health cluster/provincial/national level.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or institute, that validated by Ministry of Higher Education of Afghanistan and with medical council registration number from the Afghanistan Medical Council and passed exit exam for graduates of 2019 and above, with one year of working experience.
Experience:
- Minimum one-year clinical experience
- Experience in the related medical field will be advantageous.
- Experience in the development and humanitarian field is expected.

Languages
- For all Applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
- Working knowledge of Pashto or Dari is required.
- Fluency in all national language(s) are highly advantages.
