About the Organization

Zohor Noor Social Services and Agricultural Organization (ZNSSAO) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization active in Afghanistan. It operates in various sectors, including social services, agricultural irrigation, livestock farming, and education. The organization was officially registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan in 2020 under license number 4888. With a focus on innovation and transparency, (ZNSSAO) aims to positively impact local communities and build sustainable infrastructure for a better future.

About the Project 

The Livestock Project, managed by the Zohor Noor Social Services and Agricultural Organization (ZNSSAO), aims to improve livestock production and enhance agricultural and livestock capacities in Aqcha District, Jowzjan Province. The six-month project seeks to boost household economic capacity through enhanced veterinary services and better livestock management.

Position Purpose

To hire a Livestock Specialist or Veterinary Doctor responsible for providing veterinary services, monitoring animal health and hygiene, offering technical advice on livestock management, and training the target community to improve livestock production.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

1 - Veterinary Services and Consultation:

Assess the health status of project-covered animals and identify diseases and health issues.

Provide technical advice and solutions to farmers for disease prevention and improved livestock production.

Monitor treatment and medication protocols for animals and offer scientific recommendations.

Treat livestock to reduce mortality rates.

2 - Training and Capacity Building:

Conduct workshops and training sessions for local farmers on livestock hygiene and care.

Educate farmers on improved feeding methods, breeding, and livestock product enhancement.

3 - Monitoring and Reporting:

Supervise the implementation of livestock health programs and ensure hygienic practices in animal care.

Collect data and prepare technical reports for the project manager.

4 - Technical Advisory to Project Team:

Provide technical advice to the project team on various aspects of livestock management.

Collaborate with team members to enhance project outcomes and optimize resource utilization.

Education:

Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine or Livestock Management.

Specialized certifications in veterinary fields are a plus.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in veterinary medicine or livestock management.

Experience in similar projects with NGOs or international organizations is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

Proficiency in Dari, Pashto, and English languages.

Knowledge of Uzbek and Turkmen languages is an asset.

Ability to work effectively with farmers and convey knowledge efficiently.

Familiarity with management and reporting software.
