Mission 1: Ensure communication by phone/radio for movement tracking
The Phone/Radio Operator is responsible for:
- Operate Motorola VHF, UHF, and Codan HF radio system, GPS/GSM tracking and associated email, Thuraya, mobile phone, and internal phone system; in English and local languages.
- Alert security base manager of important events, by monitoring internet, TV, and radio news in English and local languages, as well as via a security alert system.
- Monitor EM-NET and TV stations and communicate any announcement or incident to the security department.
- Responsible for distributing SMS announcements to all staff at the request of the security base manager, and announcing the information to all the drivers via VHF/UHF, and HF/Cell phone if VHF/UHF is out of range.
- Ensure all the hard data is entered into the computer by having good knowledge of using computer application
- Ensure stand-by and contact by phone with the teams;
- Respect the defined communication codes;
- Ensure phone contact with the base on daily basis;
- Keep the phone/radio logbook up to date (place, date, and time of all staff movements) ;

- Transmit messages between the base or with the vehicles;
- Follow the movements of vehicles leaving the base and maintain radio contact; (vehicle trackers)
- Ensure mapping tracker followed up for all movement;
- Ensure that checkpoints, roadblocks, and other access constraints are communicated to drivers and teams before/during travels.
- Keep an updated contact list of all staff and external security actors.
Mission 2: Ensure maintenance of equipment
The Phone/Radio Operator is responsible for:
- Ensure maintenance of all equipment: batteries, acid, connections
- Make sure your phone is always charged
- Make sure phones are available in cars at any time
- Ensure vehicle trackers are functional
- Responsible for troubleshooting skills (skill with electrical, radio, and computer systems)
- Support HAS OFFICER in deploying first aid kits in the car
Mission 3: Contribute to security management
The Radio Operator is responsible for:
- Informing all the staff through communication tree regarding the incident
- Maintenance of an effective network, with local input, on contextual and security matters, collection of information to inform the risk and context analysis undertaken by the person in charge of the base
- Check the Radio Room’s emails on a regular basis
- Monitoring the application of security procedures, issuing reminders, and alerting the Base Security Manager when necessary
Mission 4: Respect Action Against Hunger (AAH) Policy, Procedures, and Reporting
- Respect AAH security rules and security procedures
- Respect AAH HR policy and charter
- Report to HAS OFFICER daily, weekly, and on monthly basis both verbally and written as per needs
- Advise, suggest on required improvement to enhance movement tracking system
- Participate on-base security meeting, guard meeting as requested by HAS OFFICER
