The postholder should be a self-starter who can set personal goals, train others, independently identify solutions, and build an efficient team. The post-holder is articulate and can work across all departments and CSO partner organisations. The post-holder will work under the leadership of the Head of the Programme.
 

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

The funding coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies to ensure the sustainability of NCA Afghanistan's programme. The role requires a proactive individual with strong skills in personal development, donor relations management, communications, and visibility. The funding coordinator will work closely with the Head of Program to identify funding opportunities and prepare compelling project proposals and reports. In addition, the coordinator will be responsible for communications, ensuring that visibility and branding requirements are met following donor and NCA standards.

Key Responsibilities for this Position:

  1. Fundraising Strategy and Donor Engagement:
  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy aligned with NCA Afghanistan's strategic priorities.
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities from institutional donors, international organizations, foundations, and private sector partners
  • Maintaining strong relationships with current and potential donors fosters long-term engagement and partnership.
  • Prepare and submit concept notes, project proposals, and budgets in coordination with the Head of the Program.

      2. Proposal Development and Reporting:

  • Lead and coordinate the development of high-quality proposals, ensuring compliance with donor guidelines.
  • Work with technical staff to develop project narratives, log frames, and budgets that align with donor requirements and NCA priorities.
  • Track proposal submission deadlines and ensure timely completion of all requirements.
  • Track donor reports, ensuring that narrative and financial requirements are met.

     3. Communications, Visibility and Branding:

  • Ensure effective communication of NCA Afghanistan's work and achievements to donors, partners and the wider public.
  • Develop communication materials such as brochures, newsletters, success stories, and social media content to highlight program achievements.
  • Work with program teams to ensure proper NCA and donor branding visibility at project sites and events as per donor requirements.
  • Lead the development of media and communications campaigns to raise awareness of NC Afghanistan’s work.

      4. Capacity Building and Coordination:

  • Provide support and capacity building to programme teams on fundraising, proposal writing, and donor reporting.
  • Act as the focal person for coordinating fundraising efforts, ensuring synergy between different program units.
  • Organize donor visits and represent NCA Afghanistan in meetings and networking events as needed.

      5. Monitoring and Knowledge Management:

  • Monitor and track funding trends and opportunities relevant to NCA Afghanistan's work.
  • Maintain a donor information database, including contacts, submission deadlines, and grant history.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices in fundraising and share them with relevant stakeholders.

 

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in development studies, International Relations, Journalism, Communications, or related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in fundraising, proposal development, or donor relations in the development and humanitarian sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Outstanding ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and interact with others in personal and professional settings
  • Strong understanding of donor regulations, including institutional donors such as FCDO, EU, USAID, etc.
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in developing communication materials and working with branding guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other proposal writing tools. Can effectively communicate in English, Pashto and Dari languages.
