About ACBAR:

The Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief and Development, ACBAR, is an independent forum founded in 1988 in response to the demand from NGOs working with Afghan refugees in Pakistan and across the border in Afghanistan to more efficiently coordinate assistance and delivery of services. Job Descriptions:

RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Emergency Response MEAL Officer, the Enumerator will support qualitative data collection in the assigned province(s) by conducting KIIs, facilitating FGDs, accurately documenting discussions, and preparing transcripts in national languages/English in accordance with ACBAR's data collection protocols and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in enumerator training and correctly apply the assessment tools and methodology.
  • Conduct assigned Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with selected stakeholders.
  • Facilitate assigned Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) following the approved discussion guide.
  • Obtain informed consent from all participants before data collection.
  • Coordinate with ACBAR-identified stakeholders to schedule and conduct assigned KIIs and FGDs
  • Take comprehensive interview notes and ensure accurate recording of responses.
  • Prepare complete English transcripts from interviews and discussions conducted in Dari or Pashto.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ACBAR's ethical standards. All collected data must be submitted to ACBAR and must not be retained, shared, or used for any other purpose.
  • Submit all required documentation, including attendance sheets, interview notes, transcripts, field pictures, audio recordings (where applicable), and other supporting documents, within the agreed timeline.
  • Coordinate regularly with the Emergency Response MEAL Officer and provide daily progress updates.
  • Perform any other assessment-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, Statistics, International Relations, or a related field.
  • At least three years previous experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection for assessments, evaluations, surveys, or research studies.
  • Experience working in humanitarian and emergency response programmes is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting KIIs and facilitating FGDs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto and good working knowledge of English.
  • Ability to prepare clear and accurate interview transcripts in English.
  • Have access to a personal laptop/computer, and smart phone for data transcription.
  • Ability to work independently under tight timelines while maintaining high data quality.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian coordination mechanisms is an asset.
