About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2014 and registered with the Government of Afghanistan under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk, and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of deprived and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scarce resources in a well-organized, efficient, effective, transparent, and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, health services, and infrastructure, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has an active presence in most parts of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces, as to transform itself into a leading and developed organization that will deliver to and support large number of people who have been affected by the long-protracted and sudden on-set emergencies and regardless of the hardest circumstances that exist in Afghanistan, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in most of country.

Job Descriptions:

The Community-based Climate-Responsive Livelihoods, Forestry, and Rangeland Management Project aims to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable rural communities through sustainable natural resource management, climate-resilient livelihoods, environmental restoration, and community-driven development interventions in Kuner Province.

The project will support local communities in improving livelihoods through skills development, sustainable forestry and rangeland management practices, rehabilitation of community assets, promotion of climate adaptation measures, and enhanced community participation in natural resource governance. The intervention seeks to improve household income opportunities, strengthen environmental sustainability, and increase community resilience to climate-related risks and challenges.

To support the implementation of this initiative, a roster of qualified professionals will be established for potential engagement in technical, managerial, administrative, training, monitoring, engineering, and community outreach roles. Successful candidates will be considered for assignment based on project needs, funding approval, operational requirements, and final project staffing plans.

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community mobilization, preferably in development or humanitarian projects with NNGOs/INGOs.
  • Minimum of secondary education; diploma or bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, or related field is an advantage.
  • Experience conducting women-only consultations and engaging with women in conservative contexts.
  • Experience supporting beneficiary identification, data collection, awareness sessions, and training.
  • Ability to facilitate women’s participation in project activities (training, consultations, feedback).
  • Basic understanding of gender, inclusion, and safeguarding (PSEA) principles.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written), representational and interpersonal skills.

Mahram (Expanded Role):

  • Experience working with community leaders, Shuras, or local structures is an advantage.
  • Ability to support safe access and coordination for female staff within community settings.
  • Experience engaging with male household members and community men to build acceptance of women’s participation.
  • Ability to facilitate orientation and awareness sessions for male beneficiaries and male family members (mahram) on:
  • women’s participation in livelihoods and training
  • shared decision-making and household support
  • Support delivery of male-focused sessions on PSEA, beneficiary rights, and reporting mechanisms, ensuring understanding and compliance.
  • Ability to promote positive, supportive roles of men in enabling women’s economic participation and safety
  • Basic understanding of community engagement, conflict sensitivity, and safeguarding principles.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong coordination, reporting, and management skills.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good report writing and data verification skills.
  • Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in local languages (Pashto/Dari) and basic English skills.
