Tdh has been working in Afghanistan since 1995 and carry out projects related to Child Protection, Mother and Child health and Livelihood Programs in Kabul, Balkh, Kunar and Nangarhar provinces

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary :

The CHS will supervise all community health activities. He or she will assist in training, supporting, and supervising CHWs. He or she also assists in the formation and linkage of community health committees (Shura-e-Sehie). He will also carry out protection-related interventions at community level.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assists in practical training during CHW training courses, including supervising the practical experience of the CHWs in the community during their training.

  • The CHS will also carry out awareness sessions about child rights and psychosocial support through CMS with returnees, IDPs, and the conflict-affected population targeted by the project, and ensure that they have a better understanding of standards on child protection in emergencies (CPiE).

  • Provides on-the-job and monthly in-service training to CHWs

  • Reviews and evaluates the performance of the CHWs and identifies the need for further training

  • Assists the staff of the health facility in making plans for community health programs in the facility and its catchment area.

  • Implements, supervises, and evaluates community health program activities in the catchment area of the health facility.

  • Identifies and reports immediately to the head of the health facility any problems that may interfere with achieving program objectives

  • Guides the CHWs in the development and implementation of their action plans.

  • Conducts monthly supervisory meetings with CHWs.

  • Conducts regular visits to the CHWs in their communities to assess and assist their work.

  • Identifies community volunteers and community ToTs in close coordination with community elders and the Tdh selection criteria.

  • Through the implementation of CMS (Case Management System), addresses protection concerns of IDPs, returnees, and conflict-affected children and their families in working locations.

  • Develops activities that meet recommendations linked to the psychosocial monitoring of the children being supported.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements:

Education :

  • High school graduate. Professional qualifications in health are preferred.

Experience / Skills :

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a community health supervisor, or in community development, healthcare, or management.

  • Preference will be given to local candidates who meet the required criteria and successfully complete the full recruitment process; however, being a local candidate alone does not provide any advantage.
  • Respected, self-motivated resident of the local community.

  • Good understanding of BPHS (Basic Package of Health Services) community health activities and community-based health services

  • Knowledge of child protection principles, safeguarding, psychosocial support, and referral mechanisms

  • Ability to conduct community awareness sessions and facilitate group discussions

Languages:

Written and Spoken fluency in Local languages
