Job Summary :
The Medical Doctor (MD) is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care and medical treatment to patients at the health facility level. This includes diagnosing illnesses, prescribing appropriate medications, managing both acute and chronic conditions, and ensuring that all medical interventions align with national treatment protocols and guidelines. The MD also plays a key leadership role by supervising and mentoring health staff, enhancing their clinical skills through on-the-job training and capacity-building sessions. Furthermore, the MD actively contributes to the planning, coordination, and implementation of health and nutrition activities, working closely with other team members to improve service delivery, patient outcomes, and community health.
The Medical Doctor is responsible for the overall management of the Basic Health Center (BHC), including planning and supervision of OPD services, management of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals, reporting, and coordination of health staff to ensure quality service delivery in accordance with BPHS standards and organizational policies.
Main responsibilities:

Work in close collaboration with the Basic Health Center (BHC) members and lead the activities.

Provide primary healthcare services including triage, first aid, trauma care, and control of essential communicable and non-communicable diseases.

Work in collaboration with the BHC staff to ensure the provision of quality medical care.

Complete and properly fill in the individual card with medical information.

Compile weekly and monthly reports and share them with the line manager on time.

Raise regular supply requests to the line manager and ensure the securing of BHC supplies, including therapeutic food and drugs.

Refer complicated cases to higher-level services and follow up on referred cases.

Provide outpatient consultations, diagnosis, and treatment for adults and children according to BPHS service packages and national guidelines.

Provide maternal, newborn, and child health services (antenatal, postnatal care, safe delivery support when applicable, newborn care) in accordance with BPHS.

Oversee integrated management of childhood illnesses (IMCI), family planning, immunization, and communicable disease control (TB, malaria, HIV/AIDS, etc.) as per BPHS.

Provide OPD consultations in the clinic, especially diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Manage emergencies and complications at the BHC level, stabilize patients, and refer to higher-level facilities when required.

Provide health education and counselling to patients and caregivers on disease prevention, healthy behaviours, and health facility services.

Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
