Based in Kandahar, the CHW Trainer coordinates and supervises all Community Health Worker (CHW) project activities.

Assist in designing the three-phase CHW initial and refresher training action plans in line with the overall project work plan.

Prepare required course plans, lesson plans (using adult learning methods), and teaching materials/learning aids.

Provide supportive supervision to health facilities (HFs), health posts (HPs), and outreach activities.

Supervise, monitor, and evaluate health post activities and assess CHWs’ skills during the practical phase of training.

Contribute to improving the quality of CHW job descriptions, working procedures, and training curricula.

Hold meetings with community shuras and other stakeholders for effective project implementation and development of health post catchment area maps.

Communicate culturally sensitive issues in an appropriate and respectful manner with community members and trainees.

Conduct meetings with authorities, community leaders, elders, and heads of households to enhance community participation, support CHW selection, and indirectly evaluate CHW performance.

Assist communities in nominating both male and female candidates for CHW training.

Assess CHW nominees for training according to national requirements.

Conduct CHW training in accordance with the MoPH standard curriculum for both initial and refresher courses.

Implement approved CHW training schedules.

Supervise trained CHWs in villages during and immediately after the training courses.

Maintain and strengthen the knowledge and skills of trained CHWs.

Distribute CHW kits and explain the use of kit items during training sessions.

Assist CHSs in analyzing CHW activity reports.

Develop achievement tests aligned with the training objectives of CHW training courses.

Provide on-the-job training to CHWs.
-
Ensure adherence to established norms, standards, and protocols.

Assist in the implementation of CAAC surveys with CHWs and CHSs, as required.

Assess and document essential technical needs of health posts.

Identify CHW needs for refresher training.

Identify CHW logistical needs during training periods, including drugs, medical supplies, and equipment.

Perform any other project-related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
