Job Descriptions:

Scope of Work

The Provincial CDC Officer is responsible for overseeing all activities related to communicable disease control and prevention at the provincial level. This position ensures effective coordination, supervision, and technical support to health facilities, partners, and provincial stakeholders to strengthen disease surveillance, reporting, and response mechanisms.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all activities related to communicable disease control at the provincial and HF level.
  • Participate in all relevant meetings, workshops, and coordination events conducted at the provincial or regional level.
  • Conduct regular monitoring and supervisory visits to health facilities, with a focus on communicable disease services in line with donor and MoPH requirements
  • Attend and actively participate in TB and Malaria review meetings (monthly or quarterly)
  • Maintain close coordination and communication with the Provincial TB Coordinator (PTC), Provincial Laboratory Supervisor (PLS), and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide on-the-job training and technical support to health facility staff during supervisory visits.
  • Actively participate in all CDC-related training sessions conducted at the provincial level.
  • Ensure availability and distribution of CDC-related tools, formats, registers, forms, and guidelines to health facilities.
  • Coordinate closely with the Provincial Public Health Directorate (PPHD) and other NGOs working in the health sector at the provincial level.
  • Collect, review, and compile monthly and quarterly reports from health facilities and share them with relevant departments.
  • Conduct timely and regular visits to health facilities and submit supervisory visit reports to the line supervisor.
  • Support outbreak investigation, control, and management of communicable diseases.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry in the required databases on a monthly or quarterly basis.

Perform any other official tasks assigned by the line Manager

Job Requirements:
  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in communicable disease control or a related public health field.
  • Strong knowledge of communicable diseases and public health surveillance.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto, with working knowledge of English.
