The Female Protection Officer (Livelihood), in collaboration with the Male Protection Officer, will be responsible for the overall implementation, management, coordination, and reporting of the livelihood component of OMID’s Protection Project for returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities in Jalalabad City, Nangarhar Province.
The position requires strong technical expertise in agriculture, livelihoods, and community mobilization, coupled with a good understanding of protection and gender-sensitive programming. The incumbent will lead livelihood-related activities such as vegetable production, livestock management, and poultry farming, ensuring inclusive participation of women and vulnerable community members.
She will also serve as the focal point between targeted beneficiaries, community structures, and OMID’s regional office in Jalalabad, ensuring effective coordination and high-quality project delivery in line with donor and organizational standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning and Implementation
- Develop and implement detailed implementation plans (DIPs) and work plans for the livelihood component.
- Ensure timely, high-quality implementation of all project activities in line with donor agreements and OMID’s operational guidelines.
- Coordinate closely with target communities, and other local stakeholders to facilitate smooth project delivery.
- Ensure that all interventions are inclusive, gender-sensitive, and protection-focused, with meaningful participation of women and vulnerable groups.
- Identify and select eligible project beneficiaries according to established criteria.
- Supervise and monitor the distribution and use of livelihood inputs to ensure quality and relevance.
- Support beneficiaries in establishing kitchen gardens, home-based vegetable plots, and backyard poultry farms.
- Conduct technical trainings on vegetable production, livestock care, and poultry management.
- Facilitate regular community mobilization sessions and awareness activities.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports in English and national languages.
Coordination and Representation
- Represent OMID and the project in relevant coordination forums and humanitarian clusters (e.g., Protection, GiHA, FSAC, and WASH).
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with OMID’s regional office, community representatives, and partner organizations.
- Organize and participate in trainings, workshops, and stakeholder coordination meetings to strengthen local engagement and cooperation.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare accurate, timely, and high-quality narrative and technical reports in English for donor submission and in national languages for local authorities.
- Document and share lessons learned, best practices, and success stories to promote knowledge sharing and organizational learning.
Cross-Cutting and Strategic Responsibilities
- Ensure mainstreaming of Safe and Inclusive Programming (SIP), gender equality, and community-based approaches across all livelihood and protection activities.
- Contribute to strategic planning, proposal writing, and concept note development for livelihood and protection programs.
- Support the capacity building of project staff and local partners on protection principles, gender mainstreaming, and sustainable livelihoods approaches.
Other Duties
- Perform any other duties assigned by OMID’s senior management related to project implementation or organizational development.
